The WTH community space management board was formed in Spring 2022 with the purpose of bringing together representatives from the local community, the building developers and Southwark Council to collectively agree a vision for the community space and to select the best not for profit operator to deliver the vision.
Our Board is a unique and diverse collective. We have representation across generations ranging from Gen Z to Baby Boomers. Between us we have a wealth of local knowledge gained as residents and community leaders who live and/or work in the area.
In our first year as a Board we have focused on building our vision, setting our mission and agreeing our values. We have also spent time visiting a wide range of community spaces across London and listening to our local residents and community groups.
Meet The Board
My name is Demetri, I'm on the WTH Community Space Board because I want to help create a space for all members of the community to rub shoulders.
My hopes for the community space is that it will be a mixing pot for locals and serve as a place to help rebuild a sense of community as well as be a place for the council to be amongst its people and connect with them before making decisions for them.
My name is Frederic Schwass and I'm honoured to be on the WTH Community Space Board as a developer representative. I have been involved with the refurbishment of the Walworth Town Hall since 2018 and throughout the years have had the chance to meet with a wide range of community members.
My hopes for the community space are that it becomes a vibrant, welcoming and diverse space catering to the wider community. I want to see its use maximised and never sit idle, and selecting the right operator to deliver an active and inclusive space will be key.
I'm Local Councillor Martin Seaton, being an experienced local government representative and actively involved in the committee board for the regeneration project of our prominent town hall, fills me with a profound sense of pride and dedication.
My name is Manisha, I am the Chair of the WTH community space management Board. It is an honour to Chair this Board; my fellow board members and I understand the great responsibility that we hold.
My name is Nadine and I'm on the WTH Community Space Board because I am passionate about people, places and spaces.
As a Community Representative, that lives locally, I would like to see this community space, shared and enjoyed by all.
Hi, I'm Lindon and I am excited to work alongside my fellow board members to make this vision a reality. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community.
Hi, my name is Ayomide and I'm on the WTH Community Space Board because I believe that with the redevelopment of the WTH, all aspects of the community deserve to have their say in what goes on, and have their interests respected and valued
My hopes for the community spare are that it will serve as a place where members of the community can not only feel welcomed, but also feel free to express themselves and the community.
Our vision is to ensure that the community space is a place where everyone in Walworth can come to meet, to connect, to create, to learn, to grow, to laugh, to celebrate and to thrive.
Our mission is to find and appoint the best operator to run our community space. An operator who shares our values, our vision and our love for the local community.
